Abstract: Fractal dimension and characteristic lengths of rock masses areobtained by image processing. The edge detection and pixel scanningmethods are used to acquire these parameters. From the numerical results, it is shownthat when the scanning is fine enough the results are stable. So themethod presented here would give reasonable values of the parameters inconsideration.
