Abstract:
Based upon the general equations of a transverselyisotropic foundation, the stress functions and the theory of Fouriertransforms, the basic displacement solutions for a transversely isotropicbody under horizontal concentrated loads are obtained. By integration, the displacements caused by horizontal uniform, trianglar ortrapezoid distributed loads acting on the strip area of a transverselyisotropic foundation are obtained. With measuredelastic constants, graphs of relativehorizontal displacements of a transversely isotropic foundation arecompared with those of an isotropic foundation. Some valuableconclusions are drawn.
