量纲分析中的Ipsen逐步消元法

IPSEN’S STEP-BY-STEP METHOD IN DIMENSIONAL ANALYSIS

  • 摘要: 量纲分析是自然科学研究中的重要工具,在流体力学等基础课程中常有涉及。传统教材和参考书多以白金汉Π定理(Buckingham Π Theorem)作为量纲分析的核心理论框架,并介绍与之相关的重复变量法。近年来,笔者注意到White FM在其经典教材《Fluid Mechanics》中介绍了Ipsen逐步消元法(Ipsen's Step-by-Step Method), 为量纲分析提供了另一种系统性方法。本文将对该方法进行详细介绍,并基于笔者的理解,就其应用与方法特点展开讨论。

     

    Abstract: Dimensional analysis is an important tool in natural science research, and it is frequently covered in fundamental courses such as fluid mechanics. Traditional textbooks and reference works often adopt the Buckingham Π Theorem as the core theoretical framework of dimensional analysis and present the repeating variable method associated with it. In recent years, the author has noted that White FM introduced Ipsen’s Step-by-Step Method in his classical textbook Fluid Mechanics, offering an alternative systematic approach to dimensional analysis. This paper presents this method to readers and, based on the author’s understanding, discusses its applications and methodological characteristics.
