Abstract:
Dimensional analysis is an important tool in natural science research, and it is frequently covered in fundamental courses such as fluid mechanics. Traditional textbooks and reference works often adopt the Buckingham Π Theorem as the core theoretical framework of dimensional analysis and present the repeating variable method associated with it. In recent years, the author has noted that White FM introduced Ipsen’s Step-by-Step Method in his classical textbook
Fluid Mechanics, offering an alternative systematic approach to dimensional analysis. This paper presents this method to readers and, based on the author’s understanding, discusses its applications and methodological characteristics.
