Abstract: The Professional Committee of History and Methodology of Mechanics from the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics was established in August 2003. It is an academic group focusing on the study of the history and methodology of modern mechanics in China. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of its establishment in 2023, this article reviews the establishment and development of the professional committee in the past 20 years, and elaborates the details of its formation composition, research seminar organization, and the role it played in promoting social activities, constructing the mechanics disciplines, and cultivating young talents.
