Abstract: This paper introduces the history of founding of Journal of Hydrodynamics, Communications in Nonlinear Science and Numerical, Engineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics by Professor Chen Yaosong of Peking University. The main points can summarized as follows. The journal should be in line with the direction of the scientific and technological development and the market needs in order to take full advantage of the effects of the development of science and technology, and the market. The journal should focus on the team building and the integration of resources in order to let the journal develop rapidly. The journal needs to make continuous and great efforts, and the only way to succeed is to know the difficulties and resist the pressure.
