Abstract:
To improve the capability of energy absorption, a newtype of polyurethane foams is designed and produced; the process of theblast wave propagating into this material is investigated. The maindesign principle of the material is as follows: by adding a certain amountof metallic particles with diameter of about 10\,\mum into polyurethane foams, theheat absorption capacity of the material is enhanced so that its capacityfor resisting blast is improved. The pressures of blast wave propagatinginto polyurethane foams with or without metallic particles, and with different amounts of metallic particles, aremeasured by using piezoelectric pressure transducers, respectively. Theresults show that the polyurethane foams with metallic particles have abetter performance in resisting blast wave than those without metallicparticles.
