Abstract:
This article outlines the design of the textbook of theory of elasticity for the Mechanics “101 Plan”. The textbook emphasizes elasticity’s role as the foundation of solid mechanics, a paradigm of science of rigorous analyses, and a tool for advanced problem-solving and innovation. It follows a “fundamentals-advances-frontiers” three-level structure, where fundamentals build core mathematical/physical skills; advances highlight practical applications and skills of solutions; and frontiers integrate cutting-edge research. The textbook is expected to balance discipline tradition with modern innovation, equipping students with strong fundamentals, scientific innovation thinking, and engineering problem-solving abilities.
