Abstract:
In response to Mechanics“101 Plan”, which aims to cultivate top-tier talents with innovative spirit and practical ability in fundamental disciplines, this work addresses key issues in the conventional teaching of structural mechanics, which is an important basic discipline of mechanics major, such as emphasizing theory over practice, emphasizing calculation over modeling, and the partial disconnection between theory and practice, a highly operable and transplantable engineering-oriented teaching method is proposed in this work. A teaching model is built composed of engineering case teaching, engineering practice training for structural analysis and diversified course assessment. Moreover, the analysis of teaching effectiveness indicates that the proposed teaching method has significantly enhanced students’ achievement and excellent rate, and it is a beneficial attempt for the course reform of structural mechanics.
