Abstract:
This article outlines the design of the textbook of Theory of Elasticity for the Mechanics “101 Plan”. The textbook emphasizes elasticity’s role as the foundation of solid mechanics, a paradigm of science of rigorous analyses, and a tool for advanced problem-solving and innovation. It follows a “Fundamentals-Advances-Frontiers” three-level structure, where Fundamentals build core mathematical/physical skills; Advances highlight practical applications and skills of solutions; and Frontiers integrate cutting-edge research. The textbook is expected to balance discipline tradition with modern innovation, equipping students with strong fundamentals, scientific innovation thinking, and engineering problem-solving abilities.
