ANALYSIS OF WRINKLES' INFLUENCES ON MEMBRANE'S VIBRATION CHARACTERISTICS

  • A mechanical model of membrane wrinkle is established inthis paper. Relationship between the strains and the stresses in thewrinkled regions is analyzed based on the tension field theory and the stabilitytheory. The NBA-UM (nonlinear buckling analysis-update matrix) method isproposed for the dynamic analysis of membrane wrinkles, and the study on the vibrationcharacteristics of the membrane. Theresult shows that ``excess shrink'' phenomena is due to wrinkles, whichin turn change the stress distribution in the membrane. Wrinklesgreatly influence the vibration characteristics of the membrane, and largeamplitude wrinkles will change the natural frequencies and modal forms of themembrane. In conclusion, it is shown that the NBA-UM method can effectively predict the dynamicbehaviors of membrane wrinkles.
