A SOLUTION FOR DEFLECTIONS OF THIN PLATES INDUCED BY NON UNIFORM SURFACE STRESSES

The governing equations for deflections of elastic thin-plates inducedby non-uniformsurface stresses together with the boundary conditionsare presented. By a physical analogue, the solution of the problem is equivalent to that fordeflections of elastic plate induced by thermal stresses. Utilizing thismethod, the phenomena of local bending observed in experimentscan theoretically be explained.
