MEASUREMENT OF MICRO AMPLITUDES OF WATER SURFACE WAVES

A contactless optical technique, Fourier transform gridmethod with integration of a digital image processing technique isapplied to measure vibration amplitudes of the water surface wavegenerated in a vertical oscillating apparatus. It can obtain the waveheight information corresponding to each pixel point with a highprecision. The method offers a means for measuring the micro vibrationamplitudes of water surface waves.
