This paper proposes a finite element method for the stress analysis of nonhomogeneous medium. The concept of isoparametric transformation is adopted for simulating the variations of material properties in finite elements. The example shows that this improved FEM has higher efficiency and higher accuracy for analyzing nonhomogeneous medium.
