DESCRIPTIVE SAMPLING FOR STRUCTURAL RELIABILITY CALCULATION

  • The essence of descriptive sampling (DS) method is presented in the paper, by which more samplings from required probability density function are obtained in less time. The algorithm and scope of application in structural reliability are discussed, and the DS method is combined with importance sampling method to compute the structural reliability with multimode and multivariable. The variance of DS is compared to that of Monte Carlo method. The good convergence of DS is shown by the results of examples.
