INSTANT STRESS FIELD AROUND SEMI-INFINITE CRACK TIP IN A CONDUCTING PLATE

  • The temperature and stress expression around a crack tip in a conducting infinite thin plate when the semi-infinite crack is formed are derived. The example shows that due to the Joule heat, the temperature around crack tips grows and in the meantime compression stress appear so as to prevent crack expanding.
