A PRELIMINARY DISCUSSION ON HSUE-SHEN TSIEN’S EDUCATION THOUGHT

A brief discussion on Hsue-Shen Tsien’s education thought is given in this paper. As well known, Tsien was one of the founders of University of Science and Technology of China and the first chairmen of the Department of Modern Mechanics. The ideas on cultivation of researchers specializing in advanced sciences is presented based on Tsien’s teaching practices of fostering university students in mechanics field. And the flagpole-style mode for latent cultivation is emphasized.
