Abstract
The conductor is the basic structure of the self-elevating platform for offshore operations. However, cyclic wave loads may cause excessive lateral displacements and bending moments in conductors, leading to its failure. This paper combines the Morison equation and American Petroleum Institute (API) specifications to establish a segmented mechanical model of the conductor from the wellhead to the seabed, and innovatively proposes a solution method for the multi-point boundary value problem that simplifies the conductor into a simply supported beam at both ends. And transform the governing equations into a system of first-order differential equations. Through MATLAB calculations, the correctness of the theoretical derivation and solution of this paper was verified. Finally, the key parameters affecting the mechanical properties of the conductor were analyzed and studied. The conclusions obtained further improve the calculation accuracy of the conductor theoretical model and provide effective guidance for engineering design.
