TRIBOLOGY OF HUMAN SKIN: RECENT PROGRESSES AND FUTURE PERSPECTIVES

  • In daily life, human skin inevitably contact and friction with various objects. The research and application of skin tribology have attracted much attention in fields including textiles, beauty, medical treatment, tactile sensors, and robotics. Focusing on the friction behavior of human skin, this paper reviewed the recent progresses in three aspects including the anatomical structure of human skin, the current research methods and the influencing factors. In the research methods, theoretical models, experimental methods based on the classification of relative motion types as well as application fields, and typical numerical models of skin friction were introduced. Based on this, we summarized the current problems and challenges in the research on the friction behavior of human skin.
