PROGRESS OF EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON DYNAMIC SHEAR BEHAVIORS OF UNFILLED ROCK JOINTS

  • The dynamic shear mechanical property of rock joints is one of the fundamental problems of rock mechanics, which have wide applications in many fields such as earthquake engineering, mining engineering and tunneling engineering. Obtaining accurate dynamic shear mechanical parameters of rock joints is the premise for understanding the shear mechanical behavior of joints. Owing to continuous exploration by scholars at home and abroad, a series of dynamic shear experimental apparatus has been developed. An experimental technology system dominated by traditional constant-rate direct shear test and cyclic shear test has been established. This system has been improved by the development of impact-induced direct shear test in recent years. This study focuses on the experimental study on dynamic shear mechanical behavior of rock joints. Firstly, the development of relevant experimental techniques and their technical characteristics are systematically described. Then, the research results on dynamic shear strength and deformation characteristics of rock joints are summarized. And finally the issues worth further exploration are suggested.
