Abstract
Taking wall shear flows as examples, we suggest in this paper a plan for the extended discussions in teaching the mixing length theory. The plan is composed of three subtopics, namely near-wall viscosity and pressure gradient effect, wall roughness effect, and the shear flow over a wavy wall. Through these extended discussions, it is expected to help the students gain a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the mixing length theory, and apply it appropriately.
