MECHANICS IN THE FRENCH ENGINEERING SCIENCE EDUCATION

The engineering science combines the natural science and the engineering technology. H. S. Tsien thoroughly discussed the research domain and method in the engineering science, and pointed out the path along which the engineering scientists are educated. Mechanics, which provides theoretical foundation to many engineering fields, is a typical engineering science. The education of mechanics plays a crucial role in the formation of engineering scientists. For the purpose of providing a reference to the Chinese engineering education, which explores to establish a system for engineering scientist formation, we write this article for presenting the French general engineering education, especially on the importance and situation of mechanics.
