IMPROVED FUNNELING AIR-JET ELECTROSPINNING DEVICE AND ITS MECHANISM OF BATCH PREPARATION OF ORDERED NANOFIBERS

  • In this paper, an improved funneling air-jet electrospinning device (IFAJE) was proposed to obtain ordered nanofibers with higher yield, which consisted of a titanium alloy conical nozzle, a titanium alloy reservoir with multiple grooves on the upper wall and a rotating copper wire cylinder used as a collector. The electric field distributions of IFAJE and the original funneling air-jet electrospinning device (FAJE) were simulated to study the mechanism of batch preparation of nanofibers by IFAJE. The effects of reservoir structure and spinning voltage on the morphology and yield of nanofibers were analyzed theoretically and experimentally. The experimental data were in good agreement with the simulation results, which showed that the improved funneling air-jet electrospinning device had better spinning performance and could obtain ordered nanofibers with higher quality and yield. Moveover, 45 kV is the optimal spinning voltage.
