Abstract:
In this paper, the mechanics model of the athletes in tug-of-war is established. The influences of the rope inclination, the body inclination and the athlete's posture on the result of the tugofwar are discussed in detail. Some suggestions are put forward for the tug-of-war: raising the draw rope will help increase the maximum static friction and increase the chance of winning; a smaller body inclination is helpful to reduce the pulling moment of the rope, but the rope inclination angle has to be considered; bending the arm can reduce the tensile moment; a slight bending of the leg will decrease both the tensile moment and the gravity moment, but by pedaling the ground, the leg strength can be converted into the tensile force, which can increase the countervailing force.
