    The front tracing methods including VOF and Level Set methods are reviewed in thepresent paper. These methods have been applied in a large number of engineering problems andillustrated here by an example: the Stefan problem. We also discussed the potential development ofthis technique in the future on dealing with surface such as phase interface, moving boundary, shockwave, etc.

    A detailed review of the evaluation methods of fatigue reliability of structural elementshas been made. Various the models for the fatigue reliability evaluation are classified into threetypes according to the status equations, that is, cumulative damage model, residual strength modeland fatigUe life model. Every model can find its own position in the engineering application, andhas some limits. Some discussions on the further development of the evaluation of fatigue reliabilityare made.

    This article presents a new method to es-timate fatigue life under spectrum load, accumula-tive destruction ratio method. According to the con-stant amplitude experimental results, this methodcan obtain the characteristics of paxent materialand estimate the fatigue life under spectrum loadwith accumulative destruction ratio method. Thismethod is easy to use and the result of estimationin some cases is better than that of other methods.

    Research on control design method onwindinduced vibrating comfort of TMD-tall steelstructure system is carried out in this paper. Calcu-lating formulae for vibrating acceleration of the con-trolled structurcs axe derived. The design table forfiuctuating amplifying coefficient of the controlledstructures and the control design steps are given.Tlle colnputational results show that the TMD isvery efficient for controlling wind vibration acceler-ation of structures.

    The effects of visco-ealstic materialdamped joints on modal parameters of beamsare investigated. The governing equations of theimpedances at the joints for translational and ro-tational motions are given by considering springswith complex stiffness. The natural frequencies andmodal loss factors can be obtained by solving theequations. Numerical result can be represented inthree dimcnsional curves, which can be used for pas-sive vibration control design directly

    In this paper, the structural characteristic of open-press fuselage was first analyzed. Thenits mechanics model simplification method for thestructural analysis by finite element method was rec-ommended. Its finite eIement analysis and structureoptimization were made for open-press fuselage withseveral practical examples. A remarkable effect onreducing its weight and increasing its strength andrigidity was achieved. It provided a theoretical basefor reliable design and improvement of the structure.

    The plates on the elastic foundation havealways been an interesting problem for scientist andengineers. The element-free method for plates onWinkler, two-parameter and elastic half space foun-dation is presellted in this paper. The shape func-tion of element-free method is introduced. The stiffness matrices of plates on elastic foundation are de-rived using variational principle. Numerical exam-ples are given and compared with other methods.It shows that this method enjoys a number advan-tages.

    The displacement field of sand underuniformly distributed load is measured by meansof digital image relative analysis, and the measuredresults axe compared with the Boussinesq's calcu-lationed ones. The result indicates that the test issatisfactory. This method is fiIst successfully ap-plied to the test of the displacement field of soil andis a new method in measuring deformation in soilmodel test, and is also a more effective means forthe study of geotechnical engineering and founda-tion engineering.

    The viscoelastic properties of severalgelled crude oils are investigated by experiment withstress-controlled rheometer(RS75). It is found thatgelled crude oil has properties of typical viscoelasticsolid. The crude oil rheological structure at differentstates can be described with the viscoela-stic param-eters of shear oscillation.

    The flow of the viscoelastic fluid on arotating disk with the linear Maxwell's model wasstudied. The approximate analytic solution of thecoating thickness was given using the perturbationmethod. It was found that the increase of the elas-ticity modulus of coating materials is conducive tothe process of rotating coating.
