ANALYSIS OF NONLINEAR STABILITY OF DOUBLE-DIFFUSIVE CONVECTION WITH CROSS-DIFFUSION IN A THERMOHALINE SYSTEM

Abstract: In this paper, the nonlinear stability of double-diffusive convection with cross-diffusion in a thermohaline system is analyzed. By using a simple expression, the nonlinear equations are solved. By expressing two cross-diffusive coefficients by two parameters, a more general $R_T$-$R_S$ relation and expressions of steady finite amplitude are obtained. These expressions can be reduced to those previously-derived ones when both cross-diffusive coefficients are equal to zero.
