BUILDING AND APPLICATION OF A MULTILAYER DIGITAL ELEVATION MODEL BASED ON THE BOREHOLE DATA

  • Multilayer digital elevation model is simple andeffective in building a three-dimensional stratigraphic model. Based onthe borehole data of a coal field, different geological layers areidentified. The method for gathering and processing the data of the cross-layerand absent-layer is proposed. The elevation contours of the different layersare obtained with the processed elevation data. The Kriging interpolationmethod is used to get the data of the strata for the three-dimensionalstratigraphic model of the mining area. The profile diagrams are drawn fromthe built three-dimensional stratigraphic model and compared with that ofthe same sections by manual drawing. The results show that the former modelis more reliable than the latter. Finally, the numerical simulation withfinite element method is carried out by drawing data from the builtthree-dimensional stratigraphic model. The simulating results also show thatthey agree fairly well with the results obtained by geological survey andthose gathered in coal mining process and can be used incoal mining design and tectonic prediction.
