EFFECT OF ECCENTRICITY ON THE AXIAL CRUSHING BEHAVIOR OF ROUND METAL TUBES

  • The classical problem of a round metal tube subjected toaxial compressive loading was reexamined with the straight plastic hingemodel including an eccentricity factor. Based on the energy equilibrium, theinstantaneous load-displacement history was obtained. The influence ofeccentricity on the configuration of load-displacement and mean crush loadwas discussed. The model reproduces enough experimental information.
