MODELING BASIC OVERTAKING PROCESS ON A HIGH-WAY WITH THE DEFLECTION CURVE OF A BEAM WITH FIXED ENDS

  • Overtaking between two vehicles on a highway is one themost basic processes. Traditional modeling is notsimple enough. In this paper, the deflection curve of abeam of fixed ends is used to represent the speed-time relation of thefaster vehicle. In this way, a mesh-less model is found. Comparedwith a traditional model, useful results can be obtained. The beammodel is applied in a realistic case and the calculated results agree withobservation.
