Abstract: The lumped mass at the centroid will gives more accurate results for dynamic problems, and also make it possible to optimize the element inertia effect and improve the matching between the element inertia and deformation effects. The detailed analyses of the frequency-dispersion effect for a one-dimensional problem shows the validity of the method.
Key words: centroid lumped mass, dynamic problem, inertia effect, deformation effect
