COMPARISON BETWEEN ENERGY METHOD AND NEUBER METHOD FOR ESTIMATING METAL NOTCH STRENGTH

  • For metal notch strength estimation, either Neuber method based on Neuber's rule or energy method based on Moski and Glinka's equivalent energy density method may be used. In present paper, elastic-plastic power-work-hardening material is adopted and results obtained by the above two methods are comparied with those of experiment.It is found that lower values are always obtained by Neuber method while greater values, at most cases,are obtained by energy method.
