AN EQUIVALENT MODEL FOR THE FAILURE OF GLASS-EPOXY TUBES UNDER AXIAL IMPACT

  • In this paper, the failure process of glassepoxy tubes under axial impact is reduced to an one dimensional problem. Based upon the stress wave propagation theory, a simplified dynamic model is presented to analyze the failure process. The energy absorption capability calculated is in agreement with the experiments on the glass-epoxy tubes.
