DETERMINATION OF THE CRITICAL DEFLECTION OF A SLENDER COLUMN1)

Abstract: The connotation of the critical force for the ideally elastic slender column is redefined by using rigorous boundary conditions. Based on the approximate differential equation of the deflection curve and the energy method, the limit expression of the critical force is derived, which can be used for solve the deflection uncertainty problem of slender columns under the critical force.
