Abstract: The propagation ofpatterns of fault in soil and itsits influence of fault movement on buried pipelinesare reviewed. Model experiment and numerical simulation havebeen used to study patterns of rupture qualitatively due to their limitations.The issues for further studies on this subject are indicated.%It is very important for seismic design and risk evaluation of structure to%deeply study the propagation patterns of fault through soil and analyze effect on structure.
